DISCOVER A WHISKY LOVER’S DREAM WITH THE FIRST AUCHENTOSHAN WHISKY FESTIVAL

- Experience the finest in gourmet food and drink at Scotland’s only triple distilled whisky distillery -

Auchentoshan Distillery, home to Scotland’s only triple distilled single malt whisky, will host its first ever whisky festival on Saturday 29th August.

Throughout the day whisky lovers will have the rare opportunity to sample whiskies from the distillery’s exclusive archive collection as well as some newer Auchentoshan whiskies.

This unique whisky festival will run from 11am until 6pm and offer gourmet loving Scots and their families the chance to sample an exciting array of events throughout the day. The Auchentoshan Whisky Festival will play host to a cocktail of activities including cookery presentations from top chefs, a lively mixology demonstration with tasting sessions, a farmer’s market and a variety of different whisky masterclasses with some of the leading names in the whisky industry.

Iain McCallum, Distillery Manager, Auchentoshan Distillery said: “We hope this new festival of whisky will attract a real mix of both whisky lovers and foodies from across the central belt and around Scotland, from young couples and professionals, to families and older couples. There is truly something for everyone and it’s a fantastic day out for those who love good food, enjoy being inspired and introduced to new tastes and are happy to receive top tips from some of the masters in the field of whisky.”

As part of the events programme, Auchentoshan is opening its whisky archives. Festival goers and whisky lovers alike will be able to sample the very best archive whiskies including Black Bowmore 1964 and White Bowmore 1964. In addition, the truly classic 1957 Auchentoshan with its incredibly smooth palate will also be available for tasting as well as the Glen Garioch 1958. These whiskies are fantastic examples of the world famous Islay malts, the Lowland triple distilled whiskies and Highland Malts each distilled for over 40 years to reach their optimal flavour.

Japanese whisky has made an incredible impact across the world. In a rare insight, former chief blender of Suntory Dr Koichi Inatomi will expel the myths surrounding the history of this ancient country’s relationship with the ultimate Scottish export and provide his own take on how to match this complex drink with the more traditional of Japanese cuisine, sushi.

Distillery manager Iain McCallum is offering a unique chance for visitors to blend their very own bottle of single malt whisky from a specially selected sample of ten casks in the Auchtenoshan distillery. Visitors can take the opportunity to delight their friends and family in tailoring their own blend of Auchentoshan’s finest whiskies specific to their palate in a beautifully presented 100ml bottle with hand written label.

The Auchentoshan range tasting by Jamie McKenzie will give whisky connoisseurs and enthusiastic amateurs an insight into some of the best whiskies the distillery has to offer including the Auchentoshan Classic, 12 year old, 3 Wood, 18 year old as well as a chance to sample the limited edition 1999 wine matured.

World renowned French journalist Martine Nouet will present a culinary whisky journey through the pairing of single malt with various food styles. She’ll demonstrate and discuss how to create some of the most unexpected and mouth watering combinations by matching specific malts to their perfect food partners.

Fresh from the kitchens of The Sisters restaurants in Glasgow, and winner of the Scottish Restaurant Awards Best City Restaurant 2008, chef and joint-owner Jacqueline O’Donnell will be demonstrating some of the skills which have recognised her as one of the best culinary talents in Scotland. Jacqueline will make the most of the abundance of fresh produce in her Scottish larder to show visitors how to achieve a simple yet stunning Scottish menu showcasing all of her skills.

As well as sampling cooking from the best culinary talent in Glasgow, festival goers will also be able to sample products from 30 food specialists, including Loch Fyne Oysters and Dowries Blackface Lamb, who will be selling Scotland’s finest products at the event.

Scotland’s top mixologists, LA Bartenders will highlight the versatility of Auchentoshan’s malt whiskies with cocktail demonstrations and show that by using the very best ingredients, the resulting drink can be savoured and revered.

The whisky festival will also launch Auchentoshan’s first triple conditioned real ale in the festival’s real ale tent. Featuring an incredible line-up of activities and performances from Scottish talent including live music sets, chainsaw sculpting and a cooperage demonstration where experts will demystify the art of barrel-making, this is one summer festival that should not be missed.

Established in 1823 and home to the number one lowland malt whisky, the Auchentoshan distillery is one of the few remaining working lowland distilleries in Scotland.
